[Some time after this conversation, Jason sends a text to Tim]

Free for some ice cream today?

[Jason gives the address to an ice cream parlor]

[It's not too far. Dick's out with Haley, so Tim sends off a quick text letting him know Tim'll be out - it's still kind of weird having people who care where he is, but Wayne Manor rules had said he tells someone where he's going, too.

He finds the parlor without much trouble, though he ends up waiting nearby instead of actually at the location.]

[Jason waves when he spots Tim and walks over. It feels a little odd for Jason to meet Tim while both are dressed as civilians but at least it's in a different context compared to their previous talks]

[It's definitely weird, but Tim figures this is part of the whole starting over thing, where they semi-pretend their first few meetings didn't go as badly as they had. So.

[He wasn't really expecting this from anyone else. The Team sometimes did little celebrations for the end of the school year for members still in school, but he wasn't really expecting much from here. On the other hand, it wouldn't be the first time he's met up with someone because they wanted to talk about something in particular.]

Why not? Plus, it seems like none of us had much free time lately.

[He just. Shrugs a little. He’ll know for sure if there was an ulterior reason by the end of this meet-up, which is fine. Worse things have happened to Tim than older brothers buying him stuff before initiating serious conversation.]

[Being a bar owner and a crime lord doesn't leave much room for other things]

Is - the Society treating you any better than the Alliance has been shaping into?

Actually, yeah. So far they seem to be more upfront about shit. It's almost like an honor amongst thieves situation. You at least know you gotta stay on your guard when you're signing up with them.

[It helps that their Code is similar to his own moral compass]

[Well. He hates that he’s half-wondering if joining the Society would be a viable last-ditch option.]

I don't know if being under the Alliance is much better given who's around.

[Then again, of course Jason would say that given his reasons for being a crime lord]

[It’s not like either option is good. In theory, the Society seems more upfront about what it is than whatever the Alliance is turning into, but who knows?]
