( it's not a number tim would have saved, because jason goes through burners like he goes through gear: uses them a few days, trashes them, grabs onto another. if he tries to trace down the phone's location (because he has, helpfully, flicked on it's gps just for the sake of identifying which one he is) it's off in nyc. )
( the second message comes--quickly. like he's putting it out there before he can tell himself not to. because he's trying, even if what he's trying for likely isn't what he should be. )
i don't know how it goes on your side of the block but the person you looked up to doesn't come back in mine he went into the pit already half gone, and i came back fucked up enough that i lost the pieces of what i used to be you're better off with the rest of them
[Tim stares at the text for some time - and yeah, he goes digging through information on what phone it comes from and makes note of the location and who that says it's coming from - and considers a few different things he could say before finally settling on:]
I don't remember that much of what happened anyway.
( his response takes a while, partially because he goes through several different half answers of 'why are you so stubborn?' except he knows the answer to that and 'can you stop being an idiot for two seconds' except he's also well aware that tim is just. like this. there's nothing he can do about it. tim's stubborn attitude is what got him into the robin suit in the first place. his resilience is what kept him in it this long. the bits and pieces that irritate jason are also what makes tim so capable. and annoying. but the capable bit is the important part. )
look we both know you're a great liar when you want to be or maybe we don't, because i apparently don't know you well enough not to fuck up with you i'm sorry you got involved in my fight with junior next time just stay out of it
he did what he intended to do, which was--apologize, at least a little. jason doesn't need to continue this any further. so he looks at the image, and shoves his phone back in his pocket. )
